So on Katie's actual birthday we got up and had cake for breakfast. Yum yum yum. I told you there was
a lot of cake! Mum, Dad and Nanna met us at Katie's flat and she eventually made up her mind as to where she wanted to go for lunch, and decided on somewhere she said she runs past a lot (marathon in training, again!) in Putney, called
Hudson's.
Clearly it was popular as when we got there 'sans réservation' they told us to come back in half an hour, so we had a drink (alcoholic and not) at the pub down the road. We went back to Hudson's and basked in all its Halloween decorated glory. Our favourite decoration had to be the bat attached to the fan on the ceiling. Hello bat flying around the ceiling in circles!

Fly little bat!! |
This menu had less choice than the 4 in Del'Aziz, so you'd think it would be easier to make a decision... not at all. I just fell in love with all the starters, which somehow managed to convince us to do tapas style starters, to tear and share. It did mean that when they asked me about my main course I didn't have a clue! And we complimented the meal with either diet coke or a glass of red Côtes du Rhône. (Katie and I did battle over who got the pink straw... I did say she's not that old yet!) I would happily go back to Hudson's again, it was lovely and friendly with gorgeous food, and despite the lack of excitement I have for Halloween, I liked their decorations!

I did eventually choose a main, and picked the mixed grilled fish with an assortment of courgettes, asparagus and artichokes.

Sea bass, snapper and cod |

We had one table full of food! |
I also thought I should try and get some nice family pictures... Mum and Katie clearly didn't agree with that idea, but my Nanna clearly keeps her son in order so I managed to get one of her and Dad smiling!

I tried... |

Smiles at last! |
We didn't need pudding, as it was time for cake number 2. I went for a bit of a celebration cake, a Hummingbird Cake. Stuffed full of bananas, pecans and pineapple you can convince yourself that it's healthy, though cream cheese frosting may beg to differ...

I like to think it was beautifully decorated! |
Hopefully Katie had a lovely birthday, her Facebook status said so at least! I was bundled back home in the car, with a cheeky nap and then the evening spent catching up on Strictly and getting my head together for the uni careers fair. Monday was back to Notts!
YUMMY! All that food is making me hungry!
